Leaving

From our friends at the Senate Site (http://senatesite.com/blog/2006/07/goodbye-to-senate.html) Al Mansell will resign tomorrow. This will create a vacancy in the Senate and Gov. Huntsman can help Wayne Niederhauser get elected in November. Being an incumbent can help against Trish Beck.

So Long Al! (No disrespect, but it sounded better than "So Long Senator Alma Mansell")

Thanks UC.

Thoughts: Wayne Niederhauser doesn't need that kind of help to win in November. He is an excellent candidate. He can do that on his own.

I believe Senator Mansell's rationale runs along the lines of

1. Putting someone in who can be more available to constituents (Al Mansell keeps a grueling travel schedule); and

2. Giving Wayne a running start on the 2007 Session (assuming, of course, that Wayne is the one appointed to fill the vacancy).
